Youth hunts need to be action packed and offer an engaging overall experience. No hunt fits this bill more so than drawing a premium, youth only, pronghorn tag in the state of New Mexico.
The vast majority of these hunts will be conducted in traditional open prairie that is dotted in sage, pinon and juniper. Expect to glass long distances in search of a mature buck and then stalk into a suitable shooting position. Youth only antelope hunts traditionally have season dates that take place prior to the general season, allowing kids the opportunity to hunt unpressured animals. New Mexico primarily offers rifle youth only licenses but muzzleloader licenses do exist. Not only do draw odds improve with a muzzleloader, but scopes and pelletized powder are legal.
The outfitters we work with, for the youth only hunts, are fathers and grandfathers whom excel at providing a safe, family friendly, high quality hunting experience that only furthers a child’s love for the outdoors.
WTA TAGS values our outdoor heritage, and the future of hunting so much so, that we offer free application and float services to all youth hunters (18 and under). To be clear, TAGS will apply and front the $270 license fee required at the time of application. The only cost incurred will be the $13 state application fee.
